Two reptiles, one a seated snake.
In a rural part of Karatay in Konya province, B.Y. (29) and her
boyfriend S.O. (36) were sitting in a car when another car with three
people, holding bats and a rifle, came alongside. B.Y. and S.O. were
ordered to get out of their car and then stripped of their clothes,
after which they were beaten. The suspects also sexually assaulted
B.Y., took pictures and demanded 10,000 TL (about $850).
Role model.
The suspects left but later called B.Y. to emphasize their demand
for the money. However, B.Y. and S.O. went to the police and
reported the incident. Subsequently, police took Cumali Yazıcı,
Mehmet Fatih Yılan (whose surname means 'snake' in Turkish),
Habip K. (28) and Burhan Ç. (28).
Yazıcı and Yılan were charged with kidnapping, blackmail, sexual
assault, plundering and intentional wounding and threatening.
Habip K. and Burhan Ç. were released on judicial supervision.
Karatay is one of the three districts that make up Konya
city.
