At least the contestants social distanced on parade.
In Esenyurt, Istanbul, a 'kokoreççi' (grilled sheep intestines) restaurant
was discovered to have a secret staircase leading to a basement
nightclub. Police shut it down. And two weeks ago another Esenyurt
nightclub was shuttered because foreigners were holding a birthday
party with no regard for COVID-19 mask and social distancing
measures.
Nevertheless (!), the night before last a "Miss Uganda (Turkey 2020)"
contest (!) was held in the "shuttered" nightclub, again with no
concern for COVID-19 measures. Scenes from the beauty contest
were shown on social media, with contestants parading for first
place and patrons laughing and drinking despite the supposed
"shuttering" two weeks ago.
Stairway to heaven, in the "grilled sheep intestines"
restaurant. Talk about ambiance!
Police took nightclub owner M.K. into custody and fines were
imposed on six Ugandans, the contestants and the patrons.
