Reluctantly, 'Confirmed Bachelor' Stays That Way

     The groom is CK-ready. What more could a girl want?!

A family that went all the way across Turkey, from Manisa to Iğdır, to
marry off their son was shocked to learn that the intended bride was
already the married mother of one child (!).

Kadir Uslu (64) and Nazife Uslu (60) , who live in Yunusemre district
of Manisa, first went to Azerbaijan on 15 November with the hope of
finding a wife for their son Halil İbrahim Uslu (33).  However, unable
to reach an agreement with the prospective bride's family, the Uslu's
returned by bus to Manisa.

While on the bus, Kadir bey explained the family's quest to the bus
'muavin' (assistant who serves bus passengers), who told Kadir bey
that he had a relative he could have marry Halil İbrahim.  A month and
a half later, when the muavin informed the Uslu's that he had persuaded
the girl to get married, the Uslu family journeyed 800 kilometers from
Manisa to Iğdır, where they were met by the muavin 'Murat' and two
other people.


                "Don't worry son, third time's a charm."

The family liked the girl 'Murat' presented to them so the Uslu's gave
him 45,000 TL (about $6,500) as a bride price and for buying gold.
'Murat' and his cohorts then told the Uslu's that they would take the
family back to Manisa.  However (!), at a rest stop in Iğdır 'Murat'
took off and left the family stranded.

Realizing he had been duped, Kadir Bey filed a complaint and
lamented that "the woman we wanted for our son turned out to be
already married and the mother of a child.  We lost 45,000 TL.  We
have neither our dignity nor our honor left."
