//Ed. note: seeing as how this is a 'pandemic', TNT would
be remiss in neglecting this 'tuhaf' item from another
part of the world that appeared in today's Turkish
newspapers.//
Severance pay will be deposited in her account as lollypops.
On Madagascar, because Education Minister Rijasoa Adriamanana
ordered $2 million worth of lollypops (!) she has been fired.
The country has been giving students an organic medicine called
"Covid Organics', thinking that it would hinder the coronavirus,
although the 'medicine' is untested. Minister Adriamanana decided
to order the lollypops because the 'medicine' leaves a bitter taste on
the mouth, so giving each student three lollypops would, in theory,
ameliorate the bitter taste and encourage a willingness to take the
'medicine' henceforth.
Madagascarian students show solidarity with the fired Minister.
However (!), State Minister Andry Rajoelina canceled the lollypop
order and fired Adriamanana. Nevertheless, Rajoelina defended the
use of the organic 'medicine', saying "The West has a denigrating
attitude toward Africa. If this organic medicine had been found in
a European country would it still be considered suspicious?! I
doubt it."
One dose-worth.
Some other African countries are importing this 'medicine' in the
fight against coronavirus but the World Health Organization has
warned that there is no proof that the 'medicine' has any effect
in the treatment of COVID-19.
