"Here's to a lifetime together" - whoops! just 3 days...
(at half price).
In Beşiktaş, Istanbul, a young man named Uğur K. got in touch with an
events company by means of social media with regard to organizing an
event whereby he would propose marriage to his girlfriend K.Ç., whom
he identified as "Buse" (!). The company put together a package for
Uğur K. costing 6,000 TL (about $300) and he paid 3,000 TL in advance.
The couple parked their car at Bebek on the Bosphorus shore, boarded
a yacht and had the company write their names with laser lights on the
15 July Martyrs' Bridge. The yacht went out into the Bosphorus
and after the couple had dinner by candlelight, Uğur K. proposed to
K. Ç., a.k.a "Buse (!), on the bow of the craft. "Buse" accepted and the
two danced and took pictures and videos.
As the happy evening concluded back at the shore, the company asked
for the remaining 3,000 TL. Uğur K. claimed that his wallet was in his
car so he said he'd come right back with the money. But he disappeared.
Yacht owner Nusret Can Kazancı stated that "we asked for the money
at the end of the tour but he said he'd left his wallet in his car. Then he
told us that someone had broken into his car and stolen his wallet. (!)
He promised to pay us the next day. He seemed to be very sincere so
we were accommodating. But for a week we've been calling him and
getting no answer. His girlfriend said they got married but quickly
divorced - how such a thing could happen in 3 days I don't know. I
think we were hoodwinked."
The mysterious couple, in happier days.
