They won, and then they lost.
A minibus carrying the Alanya Kestelspor football team crashed last night
while returning from a match against the Ofspor team. Kestelspor won
the match, played in Trabzon's Of district, 1-0. But at about 0430 in the
morning, the minibus driver lost control of the vehicle at Ulaş and it flipped
over, falling 100 meters down into a chasm.
Technical Director Çağdaş Çavuş and 13 football players were injured in
the accident. Çavuş related that "we cheated death and we're still in
shock. Thank God no one was fatally injured. God's kindness spared
us by letting us escape this horrific accident with such light injuries."
The club's president, Levent Uğur, announced the accident on social
media, saying "we've experienced a very unlucky accident. The minibus,
on its side, was dragged 100 meters down. Two of our footballers' injuries
are serious and treatment for the others is continuing."
