A fine example of desegregation.
When CHP (opposition party) Mayor Vefa Salman was removed
from office in Yalova, he was replaced by AKP (ruling party)
municipal council member Mustafa Tutuk.
Now, Tutuk is demanding that the hearse that Yalova loaned to the
Ardahan municipality on the opposite side of Turkey for a year be
returned even though the term of the loan has not been completed.
For his part, Ardahan's CHP Mayor Faruk Demir, whose city has
no hearse of its own and who took over a heavily indebted city
from his AKP predecessor, insists he will not return the hearse until
the loan term is fulfilled.
Demir explained that "Continuity is the basis of government. This
is not some remote, wild place. I won't return the hearse until the
term expires. The hearse doesn't only carry CHP bodies, it carries
AKP bodies, MHP bodies and HDP bodies. I don't have another
hearse. If I did I'd return this one today."
