How ya gonna keep down on the farm after they've seen
the pool?!
Şefik Kuzucu moved to rural Beypazarı district of Ankara province
10 years ago with his sons, Hacı and Mustafa, bought a disused stable
and turned it into a den of iniquity. Pretty soon, father and sons were
knee-deep in gambling, prostitution, fraud, blackmail, strongarming,
gun threats, torture and drug dealing.
Customers who came to the single rooms where the prostitutes
worked and availed themselves of the other sections, like the
swimming pool, barbershop, gambling machines and nightclub,
were charged for the services. If they failed to pay, the customers
were forced to sign promissory notes and give up their fields and
homes under the threat that the secretly taped videos of them with
the prostitutes would be made available to their families.
The story of the 'stable-cum-nightclub' became public when the
villager customers' wives may the plea to officials to "save our
husbands! They've lost all our possessions in that sinful swamp.
While we're working in the fields, they're off at that whore house
partying!"
Urban vice missionaries.
Ankara police proceeded to apply physical and technical
surveillance of the Kuzucu family's operation for 6 months,
culminating in a raid that snared the Kuzucu's and their partner
Gürkan Aksoy, along with seven others. As the result of the
raid, 60 women (!) who were forced to work as prostitutes were
freed.
Şefik Kuzucu, who arrived in Beypazarı in a 1980s model car
ten years ago, had amassed a fortune of 15 million TL (about
$2 million). In his statement, Kuzucu lamented that "I told my
sons not to expand too much because we'll pay a price. They
wouldn't listen to me and after starting off as a nightclub we got
into lots of other stuff."
