Driver claimed he was just helping the lady alight from
his vehicle.

Yesterday in Ataşehir, Istanbul, at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon,
Kwatar Hadir (26), a Moroccan with French citizenship, wanted to take
a taxi to the European side of Istanbul.  Taxi driver Ercan Yaman drove
Hadir for a few blocks and asked that Hadir pay the toll for the Avrasya
tunnel en route to the destination.  Hadir objected and asked Yaman to
stop and let her out of the taxi.

An argument ensued, with Hadir declaring that she would not pay
Yaman the 70 TL taxi fare and would call the police.  Enraged, Yaman
grabbed Hadir, slammed her head against the car door and then flung
her to the ground (see video!).   Passers-by raced to the woman's aid as
she tried to stop Yaman from leaving the scene by climbing on the front
hood of the taxi, only to fall off when Yaman sped away.

Hadir went to the Ataşehir police station to report the incident, which
was captured on video by a local resident.  Police took Yaman into
custody but he claimed that Hadir had attacked him so he filed a
complaint against her.  Yaman was released after giving a statement (!)
but since his taxi was lacking an up-to-date inspection sticker the
vehicle was banned from traffic and Yaman's license was suspended.
