Maybe if he had been handsome...
B.Ü., the human resources chief at an Istanbul hotel, received a cargo
shipment sent to her by hotel "dishwasher" M.L. Inside the package
B.Ü. found newspaper clippings with a note that read "as I was walking
down that famous ramp in the garage I heard someone's voice and then
you came into my view. So what happened? I wanted to send you my
latest novel as a present. I hope you'll like it."
However (!), M.L.'s gift package and message prompted B.Ü. to go to
the police station and file a complaint against M.L., who is actually a
writer and translator, for "sexual harassment" (!). B.Ü. also had
the family court issue a two-month restraining order against M.L.
M.L. objected to the order and rejected the harassment charge, too.
In his objection statement, M.L. wrote that nothing in the newspaper
clippings could be characterized as criminal. His lawyer added, "my
client told B.Ü. that he is a writer, not a dishwasher, and that he just
wanted to send her his latest novel as a present."
Nevertheless, the court rejected M.L.'s objection and let the restraining
order stand.
M.L. has a romantic way with cut-out newspaper letters:
