"You need 'special lessons', heh heh'"
In Ankara in September 2021, taekwondo coach Serkan B. (48) told his
student Ş.N.E. (17) that she was impeding the progress of the group
and needed "special" lessons to reach the level of the other girls in
the group (!). However, in the course of the lessons Serkan B. sexually
harassed Ş.N.E., who complained to her school teachers and her family.
As a result, an investigation was opened and Serkan B. was taken into
custody. He claimed that during 7-8 lessons with Ş.N.E. he had never
touched her and was released under judicial supervision. Nevertheless,
a case was opened against Serkan B. for "sexual harassment of a minor",
with a 15-year jail sentence requested by the public prosecutor. During
the second hearing of the case, Ş.N.E. produced audio recordings to
bolster her accusations and Serkan B. was jailed.
The court ruled that since Serkan B. harassed Ş.N.E. during teaching
lessons more than once, he deserved the maximum 15-year jail sentence.
However (!), because of his good behavior during the hearings Serkan
B.'s sentence was reduced to 12.5 years.
