Once it became a crime scene, the ribbons went up.
The incident happened yesterday around noon in the Çamlıbel housing
complex in the Kerpe quarter of Kocaeli's Kandıra district. Mustafa
Baygül, the complex's manager, instructed gardener Gazi Dal to put up
a ribbon barrier to prevent people from walking on the grass. Dal,
though, asserted that there was no need for a barrier because no one
would walk on the grass anyway.
An argument ensued and Dal attacked Baygül with a club, as passer-by
Ahmet B. tried to intervene in the fight. However (!), Dal then pulled
out a gun and shot Baygül twice, in the head and chest. Baygül died
later at Kandıra State Hospital. Dal, who fled into the woods, was
caught and taken into custody by police.
