"I just mix the right boxes together and call it 'spiritual
hydroxychloroquine'."
Fikret G. (61), who lives in Güngören district of Istanbul, identifies
himself as an imam but police have determined that he exploits
religious beliefs for money by hoodwinking people on issues like
health, divorce, breaking spells and changing fate.
On the right, the virus's deadly footprints.
Most recently, Fikret G. has been writing 'muska' (charms) to 'ward
off the coronavirus'. Posing as a customer, police contacted Fikret G.
and asked for an appointment on 4 April. Arriving at his home,
police gave Fikret G. the agreed-upon fee of 200 TL (about $35),
with a marked bill, and took him into custody and then to jail.
Welcome everywhere - now prison badge can be added to the
collection.
