Humming "Ain't no mountain high enough..." en route.
In Adıyaman, a 75-year-old woman, fed up with staying at home
because of coronavirus restrictions, climbed a wall to escape her
quarantine.
Zahide Karakurt could not open her garden gate, which her children
had locked with a chain, so she decided to scale the wall to get to the
street outside. As she did so, a neighbor recorded her movements and
tried to warn her of the danger but Zahide hanım was undeterred.
Like everyone else in Turkey over 65 (and under 20), Zahide hanım
was restricted to her home because of the coronavirus outbreak but
she reached her limit, explaining in Kurdish that "I go crazy staying
in the house so I climbed over the wall so I could attend a 'taziye'
(consoling someone after a death).
A son's desperate plea: "Mom, just promise me you'll use your
superpowers only for good!"
Zahide hanım's son Yusuf Karakurt remarked that "she gets stir-crazy
at home so she climed over the wall. I told her if she does it again I'll
call the police. We locked the gate with a chain but she scaled the
wall anyway."
