First on Rector's 'Honey Do List' - Get Wife a Job

              "And don't forget to take the garbage out..."

Hüseyin Bağ, the rector of Pamukkale University, has again created a

job for his wife, Derya Bağ.  In the university's job opening 

announcement for an "academician", the specification were listed as

follows: 

"Graduate degree in Arabic and Literature, Arabic Instruction or 

Persian and Literature, with a thesis written in the field of 

linguistics.  At least ten years working experience after graduation;

teaching certificate for instructing foreigners in Turkish and knowledge

of a second language." 

(Incredibly!) Derya Bağ met all the specifications, as published in

the university's biography of her.  On the university website the day 

before yesterday, the following announcement appeared: 

"According to the preliminary evaluation for the position of 

academician, the following can sit for the 10 August exam: D** B**"

This is not the first scandal Rector Bağ has lent his name to.  In 2017,

he appointed Derya hanım as the secretary for the Islamic Institute,

but she resigned when an outcry arose.  Bağ made his driver a 

secretary at the university's high school and then made the fellow a

department head one day later.  On the other hand, Bağ has fired

150 part-time worker university students because of "budget 

shortfalls." 

The Senior Education Council (YÖK) in Ankara issued an

announcement about Bağ, saying that an investigation of him

is appropriate.  YÖK will also hold a special meeting about Bağ

on 11 August.
