Welcome! Don't leave your weapons at the door.
At the wedding of the son of 'muhtar' (village chief) Esman P. in a
village in Suşehir district of Sivas province on 3 August, revolvers,
rifles and automatic weapons were fired into the air by men and
women, young and old, among the 400 invited guests.
No injuries resulted from the 30-minute firing spree but some vehicles
were hit by the falling bullets. The guests danced together and gave
little regard to COVID-19 measures like masks and social distancing.
Despite the racket, Gendarmerie teams did not go to the village.

IYI Party chief for legal affairs retired governor Nuri Okutan
lamented that "there are about 25 million people who have guns in
Turkey and 85% of them are unlicensed. We're experiencing a 69%
increase in violent incidents. The AKP (ruling party) has made it
easier to get guns and bullets, rather than putting in place measures
to stem this trend."
