about Istanbul's cats in Byzantine times.
Whoops!
In Istanbul, a citizen brought two female cats and one male cat to a
veterinarian to have them neutered at an agreed-upon cost of 200 TL
(about $30). Two veterinarians at the clinic informed the cats' owner
that the operations had been completed and gave the cats back.
However (!), after the 'operations', the two female cats became
pregnant so the owner filed a complaint against the veterinarians:
"The veterinarians gave the impression that they had performed
operations to neuter my cats and put chips on them when in fact
they did not."
Nevertheless, the court acquitted the veterinarians but the cats'
owner appealed. Again, though, the appeals court upheld the
lower court's acquittal. (!)
