After winning the "Miss Popularity" contest, Ceren hanım
was ushered off stage.
In Yenişehir, Diyarbakır, in the early morning hours of yesterday, Fırat
G. went to the home of Ceren A., with whom he recently broke up.
Fırat G. saw that Ceren A.'s new boyfriend Cihan was in the house so
he pulled out a gun and began shooting.
In response, Ceren A.'s friends Mesut B.D. and İlhan Ö. shot back at
Fırat G. Meanwhile, Ceren hanım repaired to the balcony and locked
herself there for safety during the clash, calling the police in the process.
Meanwhile, her many admirers were shooting each other.
Considering this to be a hostage situation, the police initiated a SWAT
team operation. Ceren hanım was successfully rescued from the balcony
and the wounded Fırat G., İlhan Ö. and Cihan Ö , along with the uninjured
Mesut B.D., were extricated from the house and brought to the police
station.
In her statement to police, Ceren hanım explained that "my current
boyfriend is someone named Cihan (!). Fırat couldn't accept this and
kept on harassing me. Even though we broke up he was still jealous.
When I opened the door Fırat started firing his gun and a gunfight
broke out."

Batgirls and batboys
Ankara police broke up a gang that used women called "batgirls"
to lure men for sex, but gang members then beat and robbed the
"customers". After a six-month investigation, 300 police conducted
raids at 121 addresses in Ankara, Iğdır and Antalya, aiming to take
158 suspects into custody and ending up with 115.
The men were mostly lured by the "bat girls" over the internet and
when they came for an expected tryst at a hotel or boarding house
they were beaten and robbed by gang members, who took the
"customers'" cash or made them withdraw money from an ATM.
The suspects arrested in Iğdır and Antalya were brought to Ankara
for processing.
