Minnoş, the new mom, back on dry land.
A month ago, Murat Karakuş, a fisherman in Ereğli district of Zonguldak
province, lost track of his cat "Minnoş". Thinking that the cat may have
boarded one of his fellow fishermen's boats, he alerted his friends to
Minnoş's disappearance.
Sure enough, Karakuş got word that the pregnant (!) Minnoş had left
the port of Ereğli on another boat. So Karakuş contacted the boat's
owner in far-away Tekirdağ and they agreed to meet so Minnoş could
be returned. On 9 March, out at sea (somewhere!), Karakuş
retrieved Minnoş and soon after she gave birth to four kittens.
Karakuş explained that "I first saw Minnoş and some other cats at the
port of Alaplı (just west of Ereğli), where they were not being treated
very well, so they were reluctant to approach people. I began giving
them food and brought them back with me to Ereğli two years ago."
"I figured that Minnoş might be aboard the "Kazım Reis" fishing boat
that had come here from Tekirdağ so I got in touch with the captain
through a friend. The captain said he would be coming to Ereğli to
fish and I took back Minnoş out at sea. That evening at home she gave
birth to four kittens." (!)
