Eight more to go...
On Sunday afternoon in Kırmızıtaş village in rural Yakutiye
district of Erzurum province, a fire broke out, prompting
14 firetrucks, 10 water tankers and 4 back-hoes to arrive
at the scene. Despite this substantial reaction, though, the
wind fanned the flames and "arazöz" (foam-spraying)
vehicles had to be summoned. By morning, the fire was put out
with the combined efforts of the firefighters and citizens.
Among those who came to help out was Muharrem Karahan
from nearby Yeşilyayla village. He noticed a cat stranded
inside a flaming house, entered it and saved the feline,
washing it with fountain water to restore the cat's
consciousness.
Cats don't usually like water. This time, an exception.
Hero Muharrem bey recounted that: "The fire was quite
large and I saw a cat stranded amid the flames. So I went
in and grabbed the cat in the nick of time. Otherwise, it
was a goner. It felt great to be able to save the cat."
