Who done it?! No one's taking "credit".
In Bolvadın district of Afyonkarahisar province, 40-year-old
trees were cut down, allegedly (!) by the Highway Department
as part of a road-widening project. The tree-felling was carried
out mostly at night, leading to speculation among the populace
that the project had a sinister, secret aspect to it.
Nor was there any clarity as to whether new trees would be
planted, although MHP Mayor Derviş Aynacı confirmed that
it was the Highway Department that cut down the trees.
However (!), the Highway Department denied cutting the trees,
contradicting Mayor Aynacı's assertions. In fact, the Highway
Department stated that its policy is to uproot pine trees,
transport them elsewhere, and re-plant them.

"Put me in coach! I could be saving more trees!"
A firefighting airplane that joined in the effort to douse a
brush fire in Didim district of Aydın province in mid-June
2024 (!) crashed into Bafa Gölü (Lake Bafa) and was retrieved
from a depth of 14 meters. The plane was then towed to the
Milas district's Kapıkırı village shore of the lake.
The 3-man crew of the plane was rescued by local citizens but
the plane has remained in place on the shore for the past 15
months, becoming something of a tourist attraction.
Kapıkırı village chief Abdullah Yıldız lamented that since
the plane's crash, no officials have contacted him about it,
saying that "Visitors to Kapıkırı are taking memento photos
in front of the plane, which is stranded on our one and only
lake shore. We don't know what the plane's fate will be, but
we want the concerned officials to remove it."
Kapıkırı village is on the eastern shore of Lake Bafa
