"Tow & Release": Tow-truck Driver Drunker Than Drunk Driver Who Caused Crash, in Çorlu

                         Cure Worse Than the Malady

In Tekirdağ's Çorlu district yesterday at about 10 o'clock at

night, a car driven recklessly by Ümit Ö. hit two cars driven by 

Evren Şimşek and Türker Aytuğ, respectively.  All three drivers 

were slightly injured in the collision.

Ümit Ö. was given a breathalyzer test and failed with a 

reading of 1.18 promil (signs of drunkenness, potentially 

embarrassing behaviors, mood swings such as being cheerful 

one moment and sad the next) .

However (!), tow-truck driver Hamit Ç., who was 

summoned to remove the damaged vehicles, acted

strangely so he too was given a breathalyzer test

that resulted in a reading of 1.4 promil (difficulty standing, 

walking and speaking, loss of balance and coordination, 

noticeably intoxicated state).

Hamit Ç.'s license was revoked for two years and he

was fined 9,267 TL (about $225).  Another tow truck

arrived at the scene to remove the damaged cars.
