Motosikletini kasklı çete çaldı
                            Grounded...again.

Techniques used in motorcycle thefts in Istanbul are getting ever more
remarkable. Gökçe Ünar, who began touring the world on her cycle 18
years ago, has had 3 of her motorcycles stolen in 10 years.  Ünar is an
academician in the Foreign Languages Department of Istanbul U. On
3 August her motorcycle with plate number 34 FY 5794 was stolen
from in front of her house in Maltepe.

Ünal returned home from an Aegean tour in the evening on 3
August and used a 2-centimeter chain to link her bike to an iron bar
on the ground, locking the cycle's steering, as well. Nevertheless, at
0405 in the morning that night, 5 thieves on 4 motorcycles came and
one of them cut the chain with an industrial-strength scissors. Another
of the thieves mounted the cycle while his cohorts guided the stolen
cycle to a waiting pick-up truck.

Up to now, Ünal has visited 95 countries and 300 cities on four
continents riding her motorcycle.  In 2008 and 2013 her previous 2
motorcycles were stolen from a closed garage at her home in
Erenköy, Istanbul.  Ünal noted that this time her building's security
cameras weren't working and the electricity had been cut off, which
she found rather odd (to say the least!).   The raft of motorcycle
thefts has made getting insurance difficult.  Ünal said she had
insurance on the stolen bike but doubted that the insurance firm
would pay for even half of the bike's value.
