The late Ahmet K. and the fleeing İdris A.
The incident occurred in Kadıköy, Istanbul, on 17 August. Ahmet K.
(40), who worked as an interpreter, met Ç.K. (29) in 2013 and the
couple wanted to get married. However, C.K.'s family opposed the
marriage. Nevertheless, Ahmet K. and C.K. eloped to Istanbul.
İdris A. could run but he couldn't hide.
For the past 5 years C.K.'s family has continued to stew about the
marriage so C.K. went to Diyarbakır two months ago to make peace.
Her family would not budge, though, and refused to let C.K. return
to Istanbul. C.K. escaped and came back to Istanbul to be with Ahmet
K.
Subsequently, C.K.'s two younger brothers, Mehmet A. and İdris A.
(27), came to Istanbul and Ahmet K. met with them. An argument
erupted between Ahmet K. and İdris A., who got up, went to the
rest room and came back. Without saying another word, İdris A.
shot and killed Ahmet K. İdris A. was arrested and Mehmet A. was
released.
