A worse feeling than losing your wallet...
Nurettin Körük (55), lives in Germany but in 2008 he had a steel
pre-fab house built on two acres of land he had purchased a year
earlier on the banks of the Karpuz stream at Küçükbük in
Taşkesiği village, Manavgat (Antalya province).
Each year since then, Körük has come to the house for vacation.
However (!), this year the house was gone, completely removed
from its site, along with everything that was inside of it.
Körük summoned a Gendarmerie team to inspect the "subasmanı"
(from the French 'soubassement', meaning 'foundation'), which was
all that remained. He lamented that "each year I come for a 15-day
vacation, the last time being a year ago, last September. This year
I saw that my house was gone, with only the foundation left and
everthing inside stolen. I asked a friend in the village about it and
he said that the house wasn't there when he was planting
watermelons in April." (!)
Manavgat is circled in red at lower-right on map below.
