Their FACEBOOK pages are a nightmare!

Izmir police got a tip about smuggled cigarette sales and raided an
address in Karabağlar on 11 March 2015, seizing 179 packs of
cigarettes.  Police wrote a criminal report regarding address owner
Engin Darğın but the ID number entered was that of another Engin
Darğın of Yozgat's Boğazlıyan district, who has never been to Izmir
in his life. (!)

A case was opened in Izmir court against Izmir Darğın but, again,
Yozgat Darğın's ID number was entered, although the address
recorded what that of Izmir Darğın.  The case proceeded and Izmir
Darğın explained that at the time he had just arrived in Izmir and
had no job so he sold illegal cigarettes to make some money.

Despite his regret, Izmir Darğın was convicted and sentenced to
2 year 6 months in jail but the sentence was converted to a fine.
Nevertheless, Izmir Darğın appealed.  As the appeal proceeded,
a notice was sent to Yozgat Darğın in November 2019 about his
"conviction" for cigarette smuggling.

At first, Yozgat Darğın thought that his ID information had been
copied and used without his knowledge so he appealed to the
Boğazlıyan public prosecutor, saying that "although I have been
'convicted' in a court proceeding, I have never in my life entered
the province of Izmir and I have never lost my ID card."

Yozgat Darğın got his state job in Boğazlıyan because he is a
relative of a 'şehit' (Turkish soldier killed in battle) but he fears
he will lose his job because of his 'conviction'.  His lawyer, Şahin
Polat, filed an objection with the 'Yargıtay' (appeals court) on 23
February 2020 and the Yargıtay's decision is awaited.

Yozgat Darğın says "you can't get there from here!"
