Salsa Pot Dispute Rends Family Asunder in Bursa

                                That's not salsa...

Yesterday at about 11 o'clock in the morning in Yıldırım district of 

Bursa province, taxi driver Nuri Yavuz (30) went to the home of his 

father Sami Yavuz (54) and took a pot to make salsa without asking 

permission.  When Sami bey objected, Nuri bey began striking him 

with an ax, prompting Sami Y. to shoot his son in the chest with a 

rifle (!).  Sami's father, also named Nuri, took his grandson's side in

beating Sami bey, who shot at his father, too, but the rifle jammed.

Young Nuri was taken to Gürsu State Hospital, where he died.  

Meanwhile, the bloodied Sami bey, a minibus driver, hopped into 

his blue pick-up truck with his rifle and fled the scene.  However, 

on Anafartalar Street in the İsabey neighborhood, Sami bey called 

the police and emergency medics to come and help him.  He was 

taken to Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital for treatment.  

Back at Gürsu State Hospital, gunshot victim Nuri bey's wife Gizem 

waited tearfully for news about her husband, together with their 

children.  However, Nuri bey's siblings accused Gizem hanım of

sparking the family dispute and they tried to attack her (!).  Police

intervened to calm the family members.
