2019 couldn't match 2018 for worldwide notoriety.
According to a report prepared by the Istanbul police, murders in
Istanbul between 1 January and 24 December 2019:
-- 260 murder incidents
-- 282 murder victims, 52 of them women
-- 254 murder suspects captured, 6 still on the lam
-- 229 victims were Turks, 50 were foreigners, 3 remain unidentified
-- 645 suspects involved in the murders: 515 Turks, 127 foreigners
-- 612 suspects male, 31 female
-- 123 victims killed by hand guns; 88 by stabbing; 12 by rifle; 13
by beating; 9 strangled; 25 others by various means (!)
-- 27 in Fatih district - the most of any district, followed by
Küçükçekmece (22) and Esenyurt (17)
-- 0 murders in Şile and Princes' Islands districts
-- 50 murders on Mondays; 34 on Tuesdays; 30 on Wednesdays;
30 on Thursdays; 26 on Fridays; 40 on Saturdays; 50 on Sundays
