TNT 10th Anniversary not much has changed -
herewith another 'name-game' mix-up from
22 December 2010.

this particular 'Engin Darğın name-game' fiasco.

Who would ever think there'd be two Engin Darğın's!

Engin Darğın of Yozgat received some good news from the Yargıtay
7th Penalty Office (appeals court) on 21 November, when the court
voided an Izmir court's decision to once again try Yozgat Darğın for
cigarette smuggling in 2015 in Izmir, where another Engin Darğın
was convicted of the crime, had his sentence converted to a fine but
appealed the fine. (see 'legal quicksand' above for the gory details).

However (!), the Izmir court has sent Yozgat Darğın a warning
notice, that is normally only sent to convicted criminals, saying
that he must appear at a hearing in Izmir on 23 June 2021 to present
evidence of his 'regret' for committing the crime, in order to have his
reduced sentence approved. (!)

Fortunately, these legal eagles are at the ready.

Herewith the objection sent by Yozgat Darğın's lawyer Şahin Polat to
the court on 12 December:

"My client is not a suspect and should be immediately acquitted
without a hearing.  After the Yargıtay's decision to void his
conviction, there is no legal basis to send my client a notice for
him to avail himself of the regret procedures and summon him for
a hearing."

And never the Engin Darğın's shall  meet.
