Street dogs won't be pleased, but what the heck...

In Zonguldak, Bartin University student Onur Kuduz ('kuduz
means 'rabies' in Turkish) filed a petition in court to change his
surname.  Citing incidents throughout his life of classmates
yelling "Run away! Rabies is coming!" and "Is there any cure
for you?", Kuduz asked permission to change his surname to
"Kıvanç".

Actor Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ. Actually, the resemblance is uncanny...

The court readily agreed and after a 15-day waiting period,
Onur Kuduz will be known as Onur Kıvanç. Onur bey explained
that he wanted a more charismatic name than "Mr. Rabies".

Patates için kazmışlar!
"Do you want them baked or fried?"

In Mercan district of Konya, residents of an apartment building
noticed unknown people digging in the back garden and informed
the police.  Arriving at the scene, the police caught Abdullah
Mucuk, Vedat Bütün and Muhammet Halil Karaman in the tunnel
they had dug while searching for treasure.

          Suspects...in happier times.

Confronted in the tunnel by the police, the suspects exclaimed
that "we're recovering the potatoes we buried."  Later on, though,
the three potato heads admitted that "we couldn't resist temptation.
We were looking for treasure." Over the course of  5 months,
Mucuk, an auto body-shop worker, Bütün and Karaman, a baker,
had dug a 3-meter long tunnel, 2.5 meters deep.  None of the
suspects have any previous police record.

Meram district is in central Konya.
