Adana Mayor Hüseyin Sözlü wants the New York Metropolitan
Museum of Art to return the 4,000-year-old statue of Hemşire
Satsneferu, which was stolen from an excavation in the Tepebağ
section of Adana, where the American Montgomery Mission
missionary building was being built in 1882. According to Mayor
Sözlü, the Metropolitan Museum accepted the statue in 1918 and
it is currently on exhibit in the museum's "Gallery 3".
