A very strange stranger in the night.
In Konak district of Izmir on 8 March, World Women's Day (!), Yunus
Yılmaz (32) stabbed İlayda Alkan (20) to death and wounded her mother
Oya Tarhan (45). On the night of the incident, the two women, who
worked at the same company, were sitting on a bench at about 1130
after having had dinner when Yılmaz attacked them, apparently for
no reason (!).
After being arrested Yılmaz "explained" that he was drunk and didn't
remember why he argued with the two women (!). Oya hanım's brother-
in-law Abdullah Sergezoğlu lamented that "our girl didn't even know this
guy, no connection whatsoever. How can someone attack another so
randomly?!"

One suspects the engagement is off...or at least "restrained"
a bit.
In Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district, a friend of Barış Çatak wanted to
work with Çatak's fiancé İlyada Ötünç. Initially, Çatak told İlayda
hanım that he didn't like this idea but then he changed his mind and
they went to dinner together. When İlayda hanım asked Çatak why he
changed his mind an argument erupted. Çatak accused İlayda hanım of
insulting his friend's girlfriend and beat her to a pulp.
Somehow surviving this assault, İlayda hanım filed a complaint with
the police and got a restraining order (!) against Çatak. She stated
that "My eye exploded as he beat me continually for about five or six
minutes. I thought I was going to die!"
