A lavish "butterfly effect".
Amid the investigations into social media "phenoms" like the couple
Dilan and Engin Polat who flaunted a luxurious and extravagant
lifestyle, another couple - Dr. Tayyar Taylan Öz and his wife Özlem Öz -
also with "beauty clinics", theirs advertised with the name "Drtayyaröz"
(!), were caught up in the investigative net.
As a result, on 28 November 2023 the Anatolian Public Prosecutor
indicted the Öz couple on organized crime charges and their assets were
seized in December, with an administrator, Bünyamin Ergün, appointed
to take charge of said assets.
However (!), Ergün, who was living with his wife in the Başakşehir
district of Istanbul, experienced severe marital problems and moved out
to live separately. The night before last Ergün returned to the 9th floor
flat in Başakşehir but his wife wouldn't let him in. This turn of events
prompted Ergün to jump 9 stories to his death (!).
Before his suicide Ergün left this note: "There are a lot of bad things
going on but no one is to blame. Whatever I've done I've done it to
myself." As for his wife, she told police "we've had some problems
for a while. He is prone to violence and I was afraid he would harm
me so that's why I didn't open the door."
Oh, the wreckage the ostentatious "phenoms" have wrought...
