Oğuz Murat Acı (29), the married father of one child, and his friends
Tahsin Arslan (23), Süleyman Arslan (21) and İbrahim Güneş (27)
were driving along a road in Belgrad Forest in the Eyüpsultan district
of Istanbul last Friday night at about eleven-thirty in 3 ATV's. One of
the ATV's had a problem so the group stopped but kept the lights of
one of the ATV's on to warn other drivers.
All of a sudden a luxury Jeep crashed into the group and landed in an
irrigation canal. Acı was killed in the incident and his friends injured,
Tahsin Arslan seriously. The Jeep driver, though, fled. But police were
able to determine his identity - the 17-year-old son of famous esthetician
(skin care expert) Bülent Cihantimur and his ex-wife writer Eylem Tok.
Eylem hanım rushed her son to the airport and boarded a 0430 hours
flight with him to Egypt. They were seen off at the airport by a woman
named A.C.S. An Interpol red bulletin has been issued for the arrest of
mother and son.
In an apologetic statement sent by Eylem hanım from Egypt she said that
"every day Timur ((the son) pleads 'please let's go back to Turkey and I'll
take my punishment.' Not for a minute (!) has he considered staying here
and avoiding justice. But please understand my motherly instinct (!). We
will do the right thing, come back, and surrender to the authorities."
