Hardened Gendarmerie officer: "Now I've seen everything."

In Tekirdağ's Marmaraereğlisi district a minibus went out of control
and hit the containment barrier.  Because the minibus's door was open
(!), the driver's wife and daughter were thrown out onto the road and
died.

Ahmet Süpürgeci (36)  (whose surname means 'streetsweeper') was
driving his minibus, plate nr. 22 AP 751 (Edirne), along the Tekirdağ-
Istanbul highway when he lost control and hit the barrier.  His wife
Gamze (30 and daughter Sudenaz (12) spilled out through the open
door onto the roadway and both lost their lives.  Ahmet and his other
children Baran and Edanur were injured in the accident.

Life imitates art: in the film "Vavien" (from the French
'va-et-vient') a husband (right) installs such a two-way device
in his minibus so that the door 'accidentally' opens and his
wife (peeking over a shoulder at left) spills out.

Gendarmerie officers arriving at the scene searched high and low
for the door, only to learn from Ahmet that the family had removed
the door so that the chicks they were bringing to market could have
air.  Gendarmerie troops gathered up some of the chicks that also
spilled out onto the roadway.
