What's wrong with this picture.
In Antalya's Kepez district, Büşra D. (20) has obtained a restraining
order against her husband S.D. Two years ago, Büşra D. eloped with
S.D. but within a month the abuse began, with S.D. alternately kicking
and punching Büşra hanım or hitting her with rocks, wood and the
pipe from a vacuum cleaner (!), even when she was pregnant.
In fact, so the neighbors couldn't hear her screams, S.D. put tape over
Büşra hanım's mouth. S.D. threatened to kill Büşra hanım and to sick
his pitbull dog on her. One time, on the pretext that water had choked
their child's throat, S.D. repeatedly dunked Büşra's head in a large
basin in the bathroom.
Finally, Büşra hanım returned to her father's house and filed a police
complaint against S.D., obtaining a one-month (!) restraining order.
Büşra hanım declared that "I won't be like the other women. I don't
want to die. I want a divorce and all my rights."
S.D. had been charged but remains free. Büşra hanım's lawyer Gözde
Özsoy stated that "my client needs greater legal protection. We have
filed a criminal complaint demanding that he be jailed."
