Ramazan D.: the lowest of the low.
In Muğla, a Kangal-breed dog that was tied by its owner to the back
of a vehicle and dragged has been revived at the Fethiye Municipal
Animal Shelter and made an official member of the municipal police
force.(!) The dog, named 'Aslan' (lion), now has an official uniform
and the title 'tourism police'.

On 26 July in Seydikemer district, Aslan was tied to the back of a
car by its then-owner Ramanzan D. (55) and dragged. Ramazan D.
was taken into custody but released. The canine, though, was
treated at the shelter and enlisted for duty by the Fethiye
Municipality, which issued the following statement: "Last month
our friend suffered a great trauma at the hands of its owner and
was treated by the veterinarians at the animal shelter. Aslan has
now recovered and joined our team as an official member."
