Sad (in the real meaning of 'sad').
The incident occurred at number 39 Çimen Street in the İnönü
neighborhood of Şişli, Istanbul. Fifteen years ago American Loren
Senseman (90) retired from a pharmaceutical job in Saudi Arabia
and settled in Turkey.
Sensemen met a Syrian refugee named Baha Haj Hassan (21) at a
coffee shop in Taksim, Istanbul. Hassan told Sensemen he was in
difficult circumstances and needed a place to stay. The American
trusted the young Syrian youth and brought him to his home on 14
August. However, Hassan began planning to rob Senseman and
coordinated this plan by phone with another Syrian named Marry
El Esad (19).
On 17 August the two Syrian youths stabbed Sensemen to death
and took the telephone, antiques and computers in Sensemen's
house. Police traced Sensemen's phone signal, which led them to a
phone shop in Aksaray, Istanbul, run by a Syrian named Mahmud
Muaz, who said that he had bought the phone from Hassan.
Consequently, the two suspects were arrested in Esenyurt and
Kasımpaşa. The youths admitted to the theft but blamed each other
for Sensemen's murder. Sensemen's body has been sent to America.
Şişli district is nearly bifurcated, its two parts connected by
an isthmus of sorts.
