Suggested alternatives 'Manafort' and 'Cohen' were rejected
by the City Council.
The name of an underpass in Şişli, Istanbul, which carried the
name of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, has been changed
by the Istanbul Municipality. Three years ago, CHP (opposition
party) members of the Istanbul City Council proposed that
Trump's name be removed because he demanded that "Moslems
be banned from the USA".
This time at the City Council meeting, AKP and CHP voted
unanimously to change the underpass's name to "Mecidiyeköy
Alt Geçidi" (Mecidiyeköy Underpass.)
