Helen seems to be re-thinking her choice of clothing,
while Zeus needs to get back to the gym. The Ugandan
is speechless, wondering if he's at the wrong reception.
Turkey's ambassador in Kampala, Uganda, Sedef Yavuzalp,
wore a "Helen of Troy" outfit for the Turkish Republic Day
reception at the embassy on 29 October and had her deputy
dress up as Zeus. (!) The Ugandans attending the reception
were (understandably!) surprised by their hosts' choice of
attire.
In the aftermath of the incident, Turkish Foreign Minister
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has ordered an investigation and
Ambassador Yavuzalp, who has been posted in Kamala
since 15 November 2013, has been recalled to Ankara.
Yavuzalp explained that "I wore this outfit because the
Culture and Tourism Minister has declared this year to
be the "Year of Troy" in Turkish tourism. I had absolutely
no ulterior motive. I just wanted to make a contribution
to Turkey's tourism initiative toward Africa and to make
our African friends better acquainted with Troy."
Actually, the resemblance is uncanny...
