They played "Last Train to Clarksville" all the way to
Düsseldorf.

The Zonguldak Çaycuma Airport opened in 1999 but since it did
not offer any domestic flights its only sevice was between Zonguldak
and Düsseldorf, Germany.  In other words, someone in Zonguldak
who wanted to fly to Istanbul would have to fly 4,246 kilometers via
Germany to do so (!).

Now, the German airline company that was serving Zonguldak has
gone bankrupt (!) so the Çaycuma Airport has closed for good.
Zonguldak's parliamentarians are lobbying Turkish Airlines (THY)
and DHMİ (the state airport authority) to re-open Çaycuma.  One of
them, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, told Sözcü that "Germania Air's flights
to and from Zonguldak were profitable but its other destinations
were not.  So, since it was operating at only 14% of capacity, it
had to shut down. We're trying to get an ILS system installed at
Çaycuma and get the other obstacles to service removed so that
THY  can start domestic and international service."
