Who needs a woman? Dad does all the cooking.
Ankara University freshman student Şule Duman (20) participated
in a 'womens rights' meeting on 27 February. Her father Mecit
Duman (45) learned about this and, together with some of his relatives,
he kidnapped his daughter and brought her to a house in Uzunalan
village in Sakarya's Kanynarca district, where Şule was kept as a
prisoner for two months (!).
En route to Sakarya, Şule was able to send a message to her friends
in Ankara: "my father is kidnapping me!" Once she reached the
village, though, all her phones and computers were taken away from
her and she was forbidden from leaving the house. Her friends
appealed to the police but without any result, so they started a social
media campaign: "Give Şule Duman a Voice!"

Finally, the Gendarmerie took action and rescued Şule from the village
house after 65 days of incarceration there. She stayed in a women's
shelter in Sakarya for one night before returning to Ankara, where she
filed a complaint against her father. The court ruled that Mecit bey
must stay away from his daughter for 3 months.
Kaynarca is north of Sakarya city, toward the Black Sea coast.
