"Holy Man" Killed Pregnant Lover, Then Went on Pilgrimage with Wife

Saliha Toker disappeared in Kayseri 13 years ago when she was 32-
years-old.  Now, retired religious culture and moral knowledge
teacher (!) Hasan Bulut has been arrested for strangling Toker.  He
then headed off 10 days later with his wife to make the 'hac'
(pilgrimage) to Mecca.

Toker, who lived in Develi district, disappeared on 28 November
2006, shortly after leaving her 10 and 11-year-old daughters at school.
Police opened her cold-case file recently and determined that Toker
was last living in Kayseri before she disappeared and that Bulut,
who was then 57, had been seeing her.

Bulut has now confessed to the murder and explained that when
Toker told him she was pregnant he strangled her to death.  Ten
days after killing Toker, Bulut went to Mecca to make the hac
with his wife.  He said that he buried Toker's body but a search
of the site uncovered no trace of Toker.  It is thought that wild
animals may have eaten her body.
