But suicide bomb tipsters in the cafe only get one bottle.
When officials at the '155 İhbar Hattı' (tip line) at the Security
General Directorate of Turkish police received a warning about
a suicide bomber, they went into action. The message warned
that "a suicide bomber will blow himself up at a concert in
Gülnar district of Mersin province."
Police determined that the concert in question was being held
to commemorate the anniversary of Mersin's liberation from
enemy forces (French) nearly 100 years ago. The police cyber
crimes team tracked the warning message back to the "Carnival
Cruise Line" (!) company in Miami, Florida.
The U.S. counterpart cyber crime team contacted Carnival and
determined that the IP address was that of a computer in the
internet cafe aboard a Carnival ship in Ensenada, Mexico,
that was heading toward Long Beach, California.
Security camera footage from the ship revealed that Turkish
citizen E.Z., who was working on the ship, had sent the message.
E.Z. was deported from the U.S. and met at Atatürk Airport in
Istanbul by a Turkish police team.
Gülnar district is in western Mersin province.
