Shoes still dry but what about your next paycheck?
Manisa Mayor Cengiz Ergun, of the MHP party, has relieved
Rural Services Office Chief Nedim Zurnaci from duty. Zurnaci
had gone to Akhisar's Camonu neighborhood the day before
yesterday to inspect damage in greenhouses there. In order not
to get his shoes wet, Zurnaci had the villagers carry him.
Mayor Ergun stated that he had an investigation started in
connection with the incident and the mayor's written announcement
read as follows: "In particular, it should be known that, as our
nation's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said, the 'lord of the
nation' is the villager who is so valuable we should carry him on
our back. Actions that are the complete opposite of this sentiment
cannot be tolerated."
