In any case, the kids on the plane enjoyed the slides.
After the doors were closed on Onur Airlines's Airbus-330 aircraft
yesterday for a flight from Antalya to Istanbul, the passengers and
crew waited for about 20 minutes for permission to take off. But
Iranian passenger Muhned Muhammet Oudah had a panic attack,
pushed open the mid-section doors and caused the escape slides
to inflate (!).
The pilot summoned the police, who came and took Oudah into
custody. Onur Airlines officials noted that it will cost $20,000 to
replace the slides, which cannot be reused, and they are filing a
suit against Oudah. The 219 passengers were taken to the terminal
and later flown to Istanbul in a different aircraft. After processing
at the Antalya Airport police station, Oudah was released and joined
his fellow passengers again for the flight to Istanbul. (!)
