Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
Police teams in front of the police station in Yakınca, Malatya,
on the alert for terrorists these days, stopped a vehicle driven by
Nihat D. As the police checked his identication and that of
passengers Gökhan D. and Kemal D., the policeman heard a cry
of "Help, save me!" coming from within the car.
The police checked the trunk and found İlhan S. with his hands
in cuffs, his feet bound tightly and a sack over his head. It
turned out that all four are involved in the illegal drug trade.
Following a disagreement, İlhan S. had been thrown in
the car trunk and was being taken to Hakkari in southeastern
Turkey from Istanbul.
Gökhan D. and Kemal D., who had been arrested four years
ago on drug trafficking charges, were charged with kidnapping.
Driver Nihat D. was released (!) and İlhan S., the captive freed
from the trunk, was arrested on a previous charge (!!).
Stopped en route from Istanbul at Malatya, in east central Turkey,
with the intended destination Hakkari, in the extreme southeast.
