Sevinç hanım has seen quite enough!
In Istanbul's Fatih district on 14 January, Sevinç Ç. (53) went out on
her balcony and saw that a construction worker in the building
opposite hers was looking at her and gratifying himself at Sevinç
hanım's expense (!).
Sevinç hanım went inside and called the police but when she
returned to the balcony the man had come and gone (!). Three days
later, Sevinç hanım saw the same man at the construction site.
Police arrived at the scene and took worker Münür D. (47) into
custody but he rejected the accusation.
Nevertheless, an indictment was prepared by prosecutor Emre
Herdem against Münür D. for sexual harassment. Although there
were no witnesses to the incident other than Sevinç hanım, Herdem
asserted that "a married woman would not lie about such a thing."
Herdem asked the court to sentence Münür D. to from one to four
years in jail for "shameless behavior" and "sexual harassment".
Münür D.'s lawyer preps him for court appearance.
