TNT British Empire Edition: Turkey-India Rail Route (1871-1872)/Part IV

//Ed. Note: British Consul-General C. Herbert in
Baghdad advocated a rail route that would avoid the
Euprates Valley and run along the north (today's Turkey
-Syrıan border), turning south through Mosul, Kerkuk
and Baghdad. Herbert first suggested Basra for the
Persian Gulf port but later switched to Kuwait.//
