This time, he'll go back to prison with some 'war stories'.
In Bursa, Yakup D. (33), who escaped from prison 2 days earlier,
went to see his father-in-law Mahmut Çiftçi (50) at his shop to
ask how his wife and child were doing. Çiftçi's angry response
to Yakup D. prompted the latter to shoot his father-in-law with
a pump-action rifle. Also wounded by Yakup D. was shopkeeper
Halit Haşmet Müftüler (54).
Next, Yakup D. went to Çiftci's house and set it on fire (!). As
the house burned and police and firefighters arrived at the scene,
Yakup D. took Çiftçi's landlord Mehmet Macit Mekikçi (66)
hostage, pointing a gun at his head and dragging him on to the
street. Yakup D. then shot Mekikçi in the leg before police were
finally able to 'neutralize' (arrest) Yakup D. Father-in-law Çiftci
succumbed to his wounds at a hospital.
